Finding freedom, regulation and resilience through a stable core – the Feldenkrais concept of neutrality and the emergence of nervous system regulation with Martin SCHLOZER

At our 2023 AGM and Community Day, on 20 May 2023, we were honoured to welcome an old friend of Somatic Experiencing in Ireland, Martin Schlozer:  Martin completed the very first SE training in Ireland 2013-2015, with Ireland SE, and assisted on the second ISE training 2015-2017.

Martin is Swiss. He lives in Arlesheim where he runs his own clinic, movement studio and dojo.

He has an impressive and very wide-ranging background in body-mind approaches. Starting his professional career as a Physiotherapist, for over 35 years he has integrated many other modalities  – these include Aikido, Ericksonian Hypnosis, NLP, Focusing and most especially the Feldenkrais Method. After his initial SE training Martin has continued to grow his expertise in trauma work by studying Organic Intelligence with Steve Hoskinson, Kathy Kain's Touch Skills Training, Somatic Resilience and Regulation with Kathy Kain and Stephen Terrell, and Transforming the Experienced -based Brain with Stephen Terrell….and there’s lots more!

For more information about Martin and his amazing range of skills, you can visit his website www.martin-schlozer.ch

On 20 May 2023,  Martin began by sharing some reflections on how he, as a Feldenkrais Teacher uses touch and guided movement to nurture nervous system states in which our innate tendencies towards growth and healing can occur. He followed it by guiding us in a short movement practice. Bear in mind, this was online, and we were seated in our respeective sofas or computer chairs!

This was followed by a break, then a lively discussion and Q and A. The participants unanimously wanted more, and there is little doubt Martin will be featuring again at one of our gatherings.
